Post-doctoral LHC Physicist position with high grid computing skills
CDD HN LCGFrance-0701

We are seeking a candidate with interest in physics at the energy frontier and a strong background in scientific computing. Experience with collaborative work in large international projects and prior experience in grid computing is an asset. Physics activities include Higgs search and other physics beyond the standard model.
On top of physics analysis, the candidate is expected to rapidly gain knowledge on LHC computing in order to provide an effective technical support to the various physics teams involved in production and analysis tasks.
To qualify, the candidate should have a PhD in Physics and at least two years of HEP postdoctoral experience. Interested applicants should submit curriculum vitae, a description of research experience and arrange for two letters of recommendation to be sent to:

Professor François Le Diberder
Particle Physics Department
CNRS/IN2P3
3 rue Michel-Ange, 75794 Paris Cedex 16 France
Secretary: Mrs Sarodia Vydelingum

e-mail: svydelingum@admin.in2p3.fr

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled but should be received by April 30th, 2007. The appointment is for 3 years and the candidate will be primarily based at CC-IN2P3 in Lyon, the French W-LCG tier-1, for the first 18 months (http://cc.in2p3.fr/). After this duty period, he/she will join an LHC physics group of his/her choice in one of the several laboratories of IN2P3 (http://www.in2p3.fr/) in France and participate to the physics analyses.
Depending on previous working experience, the candidate can expect a net monthly salary between 2500 € and 3000 €. No nationality restrictions apply to this position. In addition, good communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with end-users are essential, as is the ability to work as part of a team.
