February 16th,2009

We are seeking candidates with interest in Particle and Nuclear Physics research and a solid background in scientific computing. The successful candidate will be based at CC-IN2P3 in Lyon, the French W-LCG tier-1 (http://cc.in2p3.fr/). He/She is expected to have (or rapidly gain) knowledge on LHC computing in order to provide an effective technical support to the physics teams involved in production and analysis tasks at the Tier1 and the associated Tier2s. Part of his/her time, namely 50%, the physicist will participate to the physics analysis activities developed within the French teams involved in the ALICE experiment.

To qualify, the candidate should have a PhD in Particle Physics or Nuclear Physics and some postdoctoral research experience. Collaborative work in large international research projects and prior experience in grid computing is an asset. Good communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with end-users are essential.

Interested applicants should submit curriculum vitae, a description of their research experience, a proposal for a research project within ALICE and arrange for two letters of recommendation to be sent to:

Applications should be received before April 1st, 2009. The appointment is for 3 years (eventually renewed once), starting November 1st, 2009.
However, if the laureate is available, a 6 months contract can be added to the primary one, making the starting of the job May 1st, 2009.
